The benefits,stacked.

  • Corrects nutrient gaps that worsen insulin resistance
  • Supports better glucose control
  • Reduces chronic inflammation
  • Improves energy, mood, and sleep quality
  • Supports bone, thyroid, and heart health

Food first. Always.

Supplements close gaps. They don't replace food. If your plate is broken, no capsule will save you. Fix Food, Fasting and Movement first - then add the stack below to push the last 20%.

The BBDO core five

Vitamin D3 + K2 • Magnesium • Omega-3 • Vitamin B12 • Prebiotic + Probiotic

1. Vitamin D3 + K2

Vitamin D deficiency is one of the most common nutritional gaps in urban India. Low levels are linked to insulin resistance, poorer glucose control, weaker immunity, and reduced muscle function. Most people require 2,000–5,000 IU daily, adjusted using blood tests, with a target 25(OH)D level of 60–80 ng/mL. Always pair vitamin D3 with K2 (MK-7) to help guide calcium into bones rather than soft tissues.

2. Magnesium

Magnesium glycinate is the form we prefer. It supports over 300 enzyme reactions involved in glucose control, insulin sensitivity, muscle recovery, sleep, and energy production. Because modern diets often fall short, 300–400 mg before bed can be one of the simplest ways to improve sleep quality, recovery, and morning fasting glucose.

3. Omega-3 (EPA + DHA)

Most modern diets contain far too much omega-6 and too little omega-3, creating a pro-inflammatory imbalance. Omega-3 helps restore that balance, lowers triglycerides, calms inflammation, and supports insulin sensitivity. Aim for 1–2 g/day of combined EPA + DHA from a third-party-tested fish oil, or algal oil if you are vegetarian.

4. Vitamin B12

Vitamin B12 deficiency is common in Indian vegetarians and becomes even more prevalent with long-term metformin use. Low levels can contribute to fatigue, brain fog, poor recovery, and diabetic neuropathy. Restoring optimal B12 supports nerve health, energy production, and healthy glucose metabolism. Most people benefit from 500–1,000 mcg of sublingual methylcobalamin daily.

5. Prebiotics + Probiotics

Your gut microbiome influences glucose control, insulin sensitivity, inflammation, immunity, digestion, and even mood. Nourish it daily with prebiotic-rich foods such as onions, garlic, leeks, asparagus, green bananas, and resistant starches, along with probiotic foods like curd, kefir, kanji, and naturally fermented vegetables. A quality multi-strain probiotic can help, but the real secret is diversity. Variety beats dose.

What we don't recommend

  • 'Diabetes-reversal' supplements without credible clinical evidence.
  • Mega-dose herbal extracts marketed as miracle cures.
  • Detox teas, slimming powders, and cleanse products.
  • High-dose multivitamins without a documented need.
  • More supplements than your bloodwork actually justifies.
"Supplements don't create health. They remove the deficiencies standing in its way."

Beyond the Core Five

The Core Five are where most people start. Some people need more.

If your bloodwork points to issues such as thyroid dysfunction, fatty liver, chronic inflammation, nutrient deficiencies, or joint problems, additional targeted supplements may help support recovery. Every addition should be driven by data, not marketing, and guided by your doctor or qualified coach.

Supplements - FAQ

Questions about Supplements.

Supplements — fix the setting.

  • Moringa should not be treated as a diabetes-reversal supplement; if used, it should be considered only as part of an overall nutrition plan and discussed with your doctor or qualified coach, particularly if you take diabetes medication, while food, fasting, movement and evidence-based supplementation remain the foundation of the BBDO approach.

  • Food first, always. But three decades of soil depletion and indoor lifestyles mean most urban Indians are deficient in vitamin D, B12, magnesium and omega-3. Targeted supplementation accelerates reversal - it does not replace the plate.

  • The BBDO Core Five are Vitamin D3 + K2, magnesium glycinate, omega-3 (EPA/DHA), vitamin B12, and a quality prebiotic-probiotic combination. These address some of the most common nutritional gaps linked to insulin resistance, inflammation, and metabolic health. Additional supplements may be considered based on your bloodwork, symptoms, medications, and individual health goals—never by guesswork.

  • Yes, the BBDO Core Five can generally be used safely alongside oral diabetes medications and insulin. Their role is simple: to correct common deficiencies, support insulin sensitivity, reduce inflammation, and improve overall metabolic health. Think of them as a complement to your prescription—not a substitute for it.

  • Until your body no longer needs them. Some supplements are temporary, others may be long-term. We review regularly and let your bloodwork—not guesswork—guide the decision.

  • Most multivitamins are designed for everyone and optimized for no one. The goal is not more nutrients—it's the right nutrients, in the right doses, for the right reasons.

  • The five that matter most — and the ones BBDO's Core Five is built around — are Vitamin D3+K2, magnesium, omega-3, B12, and a quality probiotic. Each addresses a specific, common deficiency pattern seen in Type 2 diabetics, not a generic multivitamin approach. Supplements support the other four pillars; they never replace them.

  • Magnesium glycinate is generally the best-absorbed, gentlest-on-digestion form. Magnesium plays a direct role in insulin receptor function; low magnesium is genuinely common in poorly controlled Type 2 diabetes, and correcting a deficiency can measurably improve insulin sensitivity over several weeks.

  • D3 paired with K2 (not D3 alone) is the priority combination. Vitamin D deficiency is extremely common in India despite abundant sunlight, largely due to indoor lifestyles and skin coverage, and low D3 is independently linked to worse insulin resistance. K2 ensures the calcium-regulating benefits of D3 are directed properly rather than causing arterial calcium buildup.

  • Whey or plant-based isolate protein, unsweetened or minimally sweetened, is useful specifically for people who aren't reliably hitting adequate protein through food alone. Whole-food protein (eggs, paneer, dal, fish) should be the default — supplements fill genuine gaps rather than replacing meals.

  • BBDO does not recommend "diabetes-specific" branded protein powders or meal-replacement products marketed directly at diabetics (the Ensure, Glucerna and similar category). These products are frequently higher in added sugar and lower in genuine nutritional value than a plain, unsweetened protein isolate paired with real food. Reading the label matters more than trusting a diabetes-focused marketing claim on the packaging.

  • No. Supplements support the metabolic changes that can, over time and under a doctor's supervision, allow medication to be reduced. They are never a substitute for prescribed medication, and no supplement decision should be made without your doctor's awareness — especially if you're on existing diabetes medication.
