Eat in a window, heal in the gap. Fasting is medicine that costs nothing.
Fasting.
Give your pancreas eight hours off.Watch what your body does with the silence.

The benefits,stacked.
- Less insulin in 8 weeks. More metabolic freedom.
- Rests the pancreas. Improves insulin sensitivity.
- Switches the body from sugar-burning to fat-burning.
- Helps unload excess fat from the liver.
- Flattens glucose spikes and improves control.
- Reduces cravings and breaks the snacking cycle.
The problem isn't what we eat. It's how often.
Two generations ago, long fasting gaps were normal. Today, eating has become a near all-day activity. When insulin never gets a chance to fall, the body struggles to burn stored fat and restore metabolic flexibility. The result: more hunger, more weight gain, more insulin resistance, and more diabetes.
The fasting ladder
- Week 1–2: 12:12 - finish dinner by 8 pm, breakfast at 8 am. No snacks.
- Week 3–4: 14:10 - push breakfast to 10 am. Black coffee, water, plain tea allowed.
- Week 5+: 16:8 - eat between 12 pm and 8 pm. Two meals, one snack.
- Optional advanced: 18:6 or one 24-hour fast a week, only under coaching supervision.
What can I drink during the fasting window?
Water. Black coffee. Plain green tea or black tea. Fresh lime water with a pinch of salt (no sugar). That's it. Avoid anything with calories—milk, coconut water, fruit juice, lemon-honey water, jaggery, sugar, or sweeteners that trigger an insulin response.

LAST MEAL8 PM YESTERDAY
What's actually happening inside
- Hours 0–4: Feeding mode. Digesting the meal. Insulin elevated.
- Hours 4–12: Insulin falls. Glycogen starts to fuel the gap.
- Hours 12–16: Fat burning ramps up. Metabolism begins to switch gears.
- Hours 16–24: Lower insulin. More fat burning. Cellular repair gains momentum.
Who Should Avoid Fasting or Seek Guidance First
- Type 1 diabetes: Medical supervision required.
- On insulin or sulfonylureas: Work with your doctor and coach before starting.
- Pregnant or breastfeeding: Not the time to fast.
- Under 18: Growth comes first.
- History of eating disorders: Fasting is not recommended.
- Significant medical conditions: Get professional guidance before starting.
"Fasting isn't starvation. It's the body finally getting time to do the housekeeping it's been postponing for years."
First-week protocol
Start tonight. Finish dinner by 8 pm and drink only water until 8 am. Sleep through most of the fasting window. In the morning, go for a brisk 20-minute walk after 10–11 hours of fasting. Repeat daily for two weeks. By day fourteen, many people see fasting glucose drop by 10–25 mg/dL. And that's with partial application of just one finger of the PUNCH.

Questions about Fasting.
The most common questions members ask about the Fasting pillar.
For most people with type 2 diabetes, yes. Intermittent fasting is one of the most studied and effective ways to lower insulin levels, improve insulin sensitivity, and support better glucose control. The key is to start gradually and adjust medications when necessary. At BBDO, we begin with a 12:12 schedule and progress to 14:10 or 16:8 only as glucose levels stabilize and medications are reviewed by your doctor.
Most BBDO members progress to a 10-hour eating window (such as 8 am to 6 pm) within 30 days. The goal is not just to eat less often, but to eat earlier. The body handles glucose best during daylight hours, when insulin sensitivity is naturally at its highest.
Yes. Black coffee, plain green tea, or unsweetened chai (no milk, no sugar) are generally fine during a fast and can make the fasting window easier to manage. Anything containing milk, sugar, jaggery, honey, or calories breaks the fast and switches the body back into a fed state.
Not necessarily. For most people, fasting is not the problem—mismatched medication doses are. As glucose levels improve, insulin and certain diabetes medications may need adjustment. Over the past seven years, many BBDO members, including those on insulin, have fasted safely under appropriate guidance. The key is to monitor glucose, progress gradually, and work with your doctor as medication requirements change.
If you're genuinely hungry, eat. Choose foods that have minimal impact on glucose and insulin—such as boiled eggs, a handful of nuts, paneer, Greek yoghurt, or a bowl of salad. Hunger is not a failure. But persistent night hunger is usually a sign that your daytime meals lack enough protein, fibre, or overall nourishment. The goal is not to fight hunger; it's to fix the metabolism that creates it. As your meals improve and insulin resistance falls, late-night cravings typically fade within 7–10 days for most BBDO members.
