How to choose a diabetes reversal coach in India
By Col. Gautam Guha · Updated 26 Sept 2026
Choose a coach who works alongside your doctor, never advises stopping medication independently, builds food plans around your existing kitchen, shows real member data rather than only testimonials, and has a clear plan for maintenance after the programme ends.
Nine questions to ask before paying
Ask them all, and judge the willingness to answer as much as the answers.
- Who supervises medication changes, and do you coordinate with my doctor?
- What is your average HbA1c reduction across all members, not just success stories?
- How many members complete the programme, and how many relapse within a year?
- How often do I speak to a human, and is it the same person each time?
- Is the food plan built around what my family already cooks?
- What happens when I travel, fall ill, or have a wedding season?
- What does maintenance look like after the programme ends, and what does it cost?
- Do you sell supplements, and does the coach earn from them?
- What is your refund and exit policy?
Red flags
Guaranteed reversal in a fixed number of days. Advice to stop medication without involving your doctor. Compulsory expensive supplement stacks. Detox regimens, alkaline water or 'sugar-flush' claims. Pressure to pay immediately for a disappearing discount. No named, contactable coach. Testimonials with no numbers attached.
Green flags
Clear statements about who is unlikely to achieve remission. Encouragement to keep seeing your doctor. Coaches who ask what your family cooks before prescribing anything. Data-driven tapering conversations routed to your physician. Transparent pricing with no hidden maintenance fee. Willingness to say 'we do not know' about things that are genuinely uncertain.
Fit matters as much as quality
A vegetarian Gujarati household, a Bengali rice-eating family and a shift-working professional in Bengaluru need genuinely different plans. A programme that hands everyone the same template will work for whoever happens to match it and quietly fail everyone else. Ask to see a sample week built for someone like you.
Related questions
- Are online diabetes reversal programmes effective?
- Yes, when they include regular human contact and data review. Remote coaching trials show outcomes comparable to in-person care. Purely app-based programmes with no human contact perform much worse.
- How much should a diabetes reversal programme cost in India?
- Legitimate coached programmes generally run between a few hundred and a few thousand rupees a month depending on the level of support. Be sceptical of very large one-time fees with no maintenance plan.
- Can a dietitian alone reverse my diabetes?
- A good dietitian handles a large part of it, but reversal also needs movement, sleep, stress work and medication coordination. Look for a programme covering all of it.
